“You shouldn’t have done that, that’s gonna cost you. You see I may be young, but I’m far from dumb. After A.J. found out what we were up to, he threatened to take my livelihood away and I wasn’t going to let that happen. On this tape is all the evidence A.J. needs to put you away for attempted murder. Because purposely infecting someone with AIDS is a felony now, just in case you didn’t know.”
Jody completely forgot about A.J. and directed all of her attention to the tape.
“I don’t believe you.” Jody said with one eyebrow raised. “I kind of figured you would say that.” Jean pulled a small tape player out of her other pocket. A.J. busted out laughing when he saw Jody’s face in a panic. Jody became furious.“You think this is funny asshole!”“Hell yea.” He said as he slapped his knee laughing. After Jean played the tape, Jody stood paralyzed at a lost for words. Jean had recorded a conversation of them talking about everything. Jody couldn’t remember how long ago it took place. But she did know that the tape contained her future. As soon as the tape finished, Jean took it out of the recorder, threw it to the floor and stomped on it, smashing it into little pieces. Confused more than ever, A.J. and Jody stared at the unthinkable sight.
“Oh don’t get excited.” Jean said as she leaned back on the counter. “I just did that to prove to you that I made copies just in case you tried anything stupid.”A.J. stood up and began applauding Jean.
“That was great. I couldn’t have done it any better myself.” He walked over to the counter and slipped his hands in his pockets.“Well Jody, looks like your screwed.” He said as he rocked back and forth on the heels of his feet. Jean looked at him harshly. “Excuse me A.J. but I’m not finished. Jody, A.J. figured after all of this was said and done; you wouldn’t be able to take care of anybody, which meant my finances would be cut off. So to make sure that doesn’t happen, you better believe you’re going to pay me and pay me good. “I’m not paying you shit! What in the world makes you think I would give you anything after what I just heard? If you’re going to send me to prison, I would have to be a complete idiot to give you anything!”“I never said I was sending you to prison. I just said I have all the evidence I need to send you to prison.”“And how am I suppose to trust you.”“You’re just going to have to take my word for it. Just like you used me, I’m flipping the script and using you. I have already decided on what amount I want from you and we will discuss that later.”A.J. grabbed Jean by the arm.
“What are you doing? You don’t have an option to send it in or not.”“Sorry A.J., but I think I do.” A.J. rubbed the back of his head with the other hand and Jean looked at him and smiled.
“A.J., I’m glad you have been so amused by my presentation because I have a surprise for you too.”
A.J. released her arm and looked at her questionably. Jean reached into her right pocket again and pulled out another tape.
“You see A.J., I don’t take being threatened very well. And when you threatened my livelihood I had to make sure I took care of you too. On this tape is all the evidence that you tried to use me to kill her. You almost got away with your plan, but being a stupid man, I knew you would slip up and all I would have to do was wait.”
She put the tape in the tape player and A.J. stood in amazement as he listened to himself plotting against Jody. Stating how he was going to hire someone Jean knew who was infected with AIDS, to have sex with Jody and give her a taste of her own medicine. As she hung on to every word said on the tape, Jody held her breath in fear. Her face was filled with desperation as she slid to the floor.
“You mean I slept with Steve and he has AIDS!”She covered her face with her hands and cried like she just found out someone close to her had died.
“Aw shut up and calm down.” Jean said nonchalantly. Jody looked at her like she was possessed.“What the hell do you mean shut up! Are you crazy or something? I don’t want to die!” HER NAME IS DECEIT
