POETICALLY CORRECT EXCERPT
THE GAME

Can I have your number and call you sometime
The beginning of the game sometimes starts with that line
You give him your number in hopes of something good
Preparing to play the game, wondering if you should
He waits a few days to call, he can’t appear too anxious
And you expect him to because the game is played with patience
The first time you’re on the phone you have casual conversation
You talk about what you do, giving each other the basics
Can’t give too much information, have to leave something for them to learn
And based on the first conversation you decide if the game should go on
Your opponent makes the first date, dinner and a movie should do the trick
Dinner to learn more about you and the movie to think about it
The ride home can be awkward, depending on how you feel
And how they say goodnight can break or seal the deal
You go on a few more dates, getting comfortable with each other
He tries to maintain his position, careful not to blow his cover
He’s only gotten a kiss, but the objective is to get all of you
Getting into your mind, seeing what you will or wont do
Three weeks have gone by and his time is running out
He’s losing the game quickly and his confidence turns to doubt
Just when he thinks he’s lost, you offer the winning piece
You have sex with him and it’s over, giving him complete victory
The gifts, money and fun were just a distraction
A strategy to the game to keep you from seeing what’s really happening
To him the game is over, there’s no need to call anymore
He won the game in record time, now there’s nothing left to play for

WINDOW

The hall is quiet and I am enclosed in my thoughts
Fear, wonder, love, things that can’t be bought
Nothing else exist, as my mind travels
Nothing else is important, nothing else matters

I never would have dreamed such a thing could exist
So lost, unaware, naïve yet beautiful as this
Changes all direction in life, dreams, motives and such
And you steal them for yourself at the very first touch

How dare you look at me and take my very soul
Consume my very life and leave it in the cold
Yet the love I have for you, I myself cannot explain
For I don’t even know you, and to be without you is pain

There is so much to do to prepare for what’s to come
I am your everything and your needs shall be done
You can trust me and believe the things that I say
For your interest are now mine every single day

I now let go of my life for as long as you need
Wisdom, inspiration, love and a mother I will be
I feel I’m ready to leave now and into the future we will go
As I stare at my newborn baby through the hospital window
